What is Gift Directory?
Gift Directory, sits online behind the scenes in the B2B world, modernising the way retailers and wholesalers interact.
For Retailers we’re convenient and free of charge, an easy destination helping them answer their constant problem of “what shall we put on the shelves?” As well as browsing the site, our retailers receive a regular email filled with different product ideas from multiple suppliers. Gift Directory offers buyers the ability to save time and order multiple products directly off many wholesalers. We don’t clip the ticket on the products.
For Wholesalers, reaching retailers has never been easier. We provide unprecedented business exposure for suppliers within the gift, toy, homewares and stationery sectors of New Zealand as an online gift trade expo assisting retailers to buy from our participating wholesaler’s products.
Gift Directory is not a trading company but an online platform providing a vehicle for wholesalers to build their brands and an essential resource for retailers.
Can anyone join and access Gift Directory?
No. Gift Directory is a resource for retailers and resellers. To access the wholesale pricing, application is required.
What do I need to prove I'm a retailer?
Gift Directory is a trade only website.
Once you have registered as a retailer or wholesale buyer, your application will be checked against The New Zealand Companies Register.

How do I Log In?
- At the top left-hand corner you'll see the word Login.
- Click on that.
- Type in your email address and password.
- If you've forgotten your password, no worries we'll send you info on resetting your password.

What does it cost to use the site?
For retailers, the site is free.
Wholesalers wishing to promote their products can purchase a paid listing. Contact [email protected] if you're interested in finding out more.
When products are ordered through the site, Gift Directory does not clip the ticket on the products.
My company has a paid listing, how often can i edit my listing?
It is your listing and you can update your text, products and images as often as you'd like.
We can teach you, or a member of your staff, how to update the listing. Its easily done. Or we can do this for you.I'm not longer trading, I'd like to delete my company's listing

How do I search for Products?
Using the search bar, type in the product you're looking for eg "scarf". (Remember some wholesalers will have named the product "scarves", and this won't appear in a search for "scarf". So try both.)
If the results aren't satisfactory, reduce the number of works in your search (eg use "teether" instead of "baby teether").
Search for one product at a time.
Avoid keywords that are too specific or specialised (eg 10mm saucepan), in this case just put "saucepan".
How do I search by Brand Name?
You can search for the brand name of a product two ways:
Either type the name in the Search Bar
or
simply browse through our A-Z brand list.
To find the A-Z brand list, click on "locate brands" in the main navigation bar.
The A-Z is fabulous if you've forgotten how to spell what you're looking for!
How do I search for a wholesaler by Company Name?
Type the company name into the Search Bar. On the left of the search bar there is a button which says "products", click this. You'll see it drops down to say Wholesalers. Now click "search".
I can't see the wholesale prices of the products, where are they?
Only retailers who have joined Gift Directory will be able to see the prices.
Suppliers have the option to show Recommended Retail Price (RRP), Wholesale Price or Sale Price. They do need to show one of the prices, but not all of them.
If you have joined and can't see the prices - you either need to log in or contact us so we can help you out.
How do i enquire on a product I'm interested in?
When you have clicked into the product there's a green button on the right-hand side saying "send an email". Your enquiry will be sent directly to the wholesaler, who will get in touch with you.
How often are products updated?
Products are being updated constantly. We work with our suppliers and there's always new, interesting and different products available. Come back often!
Many of our suppliers show a selection of their range, so if their product fits with your look, email them to ask about what other products (or specials) they might be carrying.
How do stores contact wholesalers?
Stores wishing to contact wholesalers can simply click on the relevant green button to either:
- send an email (this will go directly to the wholesaler)
- get a phone number
- click through to the wholesaler's website.
Buyers can also save time and order products directly off wholesalers via Gift Directory utilising the cart feature. In this instance, the wholesaler will respond directly to the store.
Will stores be able to directly place their orders online and make payment?
This is a yes and no question... YES, stores can send "order enquiries" direct to wholesalers. And NO, no payments or accounts for products are handled by Gift Directory.
We work an "order enquiry" system: Once an "order enquiry" has been placed on Gift Directory, the wholesaler will receive the "order enquiry" via email.
The buyer will also receive a copy of the "order enquiry" by email.
Each wholesaler will decide which stores they want stocking their products. (Some wholesalers offer products under exclusive arrangements and/or wholesalers may already have a stockist in your area.) Our "order enquiry" system allows the communication dialogue to commence on products you'd like to stock and the wholesaler, appreciative of that, will respond quickly.
Buyers will make payments directly to the wholesaler and the wholesaler will dispatch your order directly to your shop.
What about minimum order quantities and minimum order values?
Each wholesaler works differently. When you are viewing a product, if there is a minimum quantity or minimum order value required by that wholesaler, it should say it on that page.
I'm a retailer. Is there a fee to use Gift Directory?
No, Gift Directory is free for you to use.

Absolutely! Gift Directory is a unique shop window offering retail buyers new & exciting product inspiration 24/7.
We promote Gift Directory to over 5,000 retailers through a combination of print media, email marketing, and direct mail and find new retailers are joining us weekly.
Our retailers regularly receive e-newsletters showcasing new releases & products ideas for their shops, and you can certainly be part of this.

Should I utilise Gift Directory if I don’t want to sell to every retailer?
Yes. Gift Directory has been set up as a search engine for all retailers within the gift-toy-homewares-stationery sectors. Its ease-of-use and vital information content appeals to a widespread retailer audience, including your current customers. Why hinder your customers from finding you and easily accessing your information?
As a wholesaler, if I purchase a listing on Gift Directory, will it give my website greater visibility within Google?
Most definitely. Google’s proposition is based on relevance, credibility and results. Because Gift Directory is a specialist directory and from conception has been Search Engine Optimised (SEO); your website will rank highly with Google because it follows SEO best practices as do other search engines.
All websites linked to Gift Directory will increase their Search Optimisation.

What's a Showroom Opening?
This is a feature where wholesalers can advise of their product releases and retailers get to know when and where, up and down the country, it will happen.
Some wholesalers open their showrooms, some conduct a road show, some exhibit at trade fairs in New Zealand and/or Australia.
